I've got a hunger twisting my stomach into knots.

Hello world!

It has been far too long since I have written a blog.  Since April, I've finished my exams, passed them all, have merits in all of them, and am on the fast track to getting a merit overall (2:1 degree).  All I've left to do now is my dissertation, which I'm working on currently.  I've got a part-time job with King's doing research for the Market Intelligence Report on Higher Education.  It's quite interesting, actually.

That is all fine and well, but if you know me, you know that there is a little part of me that always flares up from time to time about acting.  Well, it's at full throttle right now thanks to a couple of shows and films I have taken in recently.  It's bitten me hard this time around, so as I write this while listening to the "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" cast recording, I have to admit that I've done some research about what my visa allows, and though I can't audition or work as an actor on my student visa, when I get my Tier 1 visa, I can.  Now all I have to do is find something similar to Studio Theatre here, which I'm sure won't be hard, and start up an acting class or two to brush up my resume.  A lot has changed in me since the last time I took classes.  Well, I say a lot, but really it was there all along, I was just too nervous, or shy, or whatever it was, to be completely comfortable on stage/class like I used to be in high school and undergrad.  So with that, a couple classes, and a free head shot courtesy of King's thanks to a job for the prospectus, I should have at least a shot at auditions.  I've also thought about dropping in to some of the theatres (as I'm literally a stones throw away from the West End, thank you LONDON!) and seeing if anyone will give me the time of day as to go about auditions for even the smallest roles.

I also am going to do everything within my power to get back to the states to see How to Succeed on Broadway while it's on because all I've heard and the clips I've seen make it seem like an amazing show.

I'm super excited about this prospect.  It doesn't mean I'm turning away from what I'm completing a degree in currently by any means.  After all, I have a $53,000 debt immanently looming over my head that will need to be paid off.  So naturally I will be getting a full-time job that has nothing at all to do with acting so I can pay that and the bills.  And by the looks of things, I'll probably be taking a post from King's with the Marketing Department or something, as they seem to pay the best and are the only ones that have ever gotten back to me on job applications.

Other than that, I don't have much else to say, so it's back to reading "Bossy Pants" - Tina Fey on my day off.  Hope you're all well!

When there's a burning in your heart

Hello boys and girls.  It has been a substantial amount of time since I last blogged, I know.  Mia culpa.  But I'm back now, so all can be right again.

Well, where to begin?  As most of you know, I moved from my sardine can of a flat to a much bigger place closer to campus.  I do miss being right next to the Zone 2 line, but I'm not that far away so it's alright I suppose.  I'm on break right now and have been since 1 April.  Term starts back up on 26 April, but I don't have anything until May.  This next term will be an exam term with a couple of overspill lectures that couldn't be fit in for various reasons.  I've got two exams and then all I have is my dissertation and I'm done.  It's CRAZY how quickly this school year has gone by.  I'm worried about getting visa clearance to stay at the moment, since mine runs out at the end of January 2012.

What else.... not much else is happening right now.  I'm pretty boring, sorry.  I had a nice day out at the zoo yesterday, but WOWZERS was it expensive.  19 quid to get in to the zoo... when did things get so expensive?  I went with Claire and her sister Libby who's visiting for the weekend.  It was a nice day.  We packed lunch so we didn't have to pay too much.  We all went to Camden on Sunday too for some drinks and to just hang out.  There's this place called Proud that is in old stables and it's really cool.  Each stable stall has been made into a different room with different themes and all have a stripper pole in them. It's quite funny.  One of the rooms has karaoke in it which is awesome. We did a bit of that before moving to a bigger room because more people joined us later.

That's all I can think of at the moment.  Pretty boring, I know.  Sorry. :-/  Hope you all are doing well.  I may see you this summer, I may not.  Depends how things pan out.  But you could always come over here (hint hint).  xx
